RAA Spells 30 Years of Success

Risdall Advertising Celebrates With Voodoo '72 Party

NEW BRIGHTON, Minnesota-On Wednesday, May 22, 2002, Risdall Advertising will celebrate its 30th anniversary with tortes and tarot cards. The famously dessert-loving advertising agency will be serving many sweet treats, a few appetizers, and a roast pig.

Agency founder John Risdall says that his shop, founded in his basement in July 1972, has outlived or outgrown 3000 ad agencies in Minnesota. Although the agency is billing itself as "the luckiest ad agency in the world" on its Voodoo '72 party invitation, sheer persistence, a broad scope of capabilities, and adaptability have probably had more to do with its success. For example, the agency entered the interactive arena very early, and it has been very successful in providing websites and other interactive options along with more traditional advertising services. The firm is also a leader in environmental, industrial, high-tech, medical technology, sporting goods and business-to-business advertising.

RAA is the 7th oldest ad agency in Minnesota and the 6th largest. Advertising Age ranks it the 15th largest business-to-business agency in the U.S. In 2001, capitalized billings stood at $112 million. A timeline highlighted with agency artifacts will be on display at the party.

Entertainment at the invitation-only party will include a palm reader, a tarot card reader, and the opportunity to be photographed in a 1972 VW Beetle convertible.
