Rose McKinney

APR - President - Risdall McKinney Public Relations

Hired: March 2006

Education:

  • Phillips Exeter Academy and Drake University
  • B.A. Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications (Majors in Magazines and Public Relations)

In the beginning...

Before Risdall McKinney Public Relations, Rose was Vice President at Karwoski & Courage, where she was responsible for developing new business, setting agency direction and operations, supervising staff and account teams, and directing overall client service initiatives and providing strategic PR counsel for B2B and consumer clients.

Rose also worked at The Foley Group (formerly Foley Sackett) as the Director of Public Relations. Responsibilities there included integrating PR with account services, creative, media, traffic, production and accounting on all aspects of marketing-communications planning and provided strategic PR counsel, planning and implementation.

Skills and services:

Where to start! Rose offers her clients public relations counseling, planning, implementation and evaluation, along with exceptional leadership and management capabilities and exemplary client service. Rose is also very conscientious about passing along what she knows through teaching at Metropolitan State University and her involvement in PRSA and the Counselors Academy.

And, finally, "my true calling", planning dinner parties and menus. Lucky guests might expect Caesar Salad - the real deal - homemade pasta, risotto, paella and secret, indulgent brownies!

Proudest moments:

"Some of my proudest moments include my marriage to Kelly W. McKinney and the birth of our three children. I also take pride in, along with my teams, winning more than 50 of the PR industry's most coveted awards and becoming President-elect of Minnesota PRSA."

Big deals for clients:

* Saving the Twin Cities Shriners Hospital for Children from being closed. * Celebrating the Millennium with "Continental Harmony" for the American Composers Forum - participation by all 50 states with July 4, 2000 concerts in conjunction with the White House Millennium Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. * Landing front-page coverage in the Washington Post on behalf of Cold Spring Granite company for its involvement with the FDR Memorial opening/dedication.

Favorite candy:

"Did I mention chocolate?" Rose cites Maple Cream Milk Chocolates from The Chocolatier in Exeter and Cadbury cream Easter eggs (in season) as a few of her favorite things.

Down time:

Outside the office, Rose enjoys reading cookbooks, planning menus, hosting dinner parties, traveling ("anywhere warm and with a beach!") and hiking.

Greatest hits:

"Each of my three children was born in a different decade: '89, '92 and '00 (sounds like a radio station: the 80s 90s and today!")
