Michael Ibach - Interactive Art Director

Michael Ibach

Interactive Art Director

Hired June 1999

Background

Always a good-ol Wisconsin boy... Mike grew up in Milwaukee and his parents still reside there. (He’s also a hardcore Packers fan.)

Education

University of Wisconsin – Madison: B.S. in Graphic Design

The visual appeal:

Fell into web design in 1994 when the UW Medical School needed web pages and Mike happened to be looking for some pretty pennies. He was hired by a Brainerd firm right out of school. However, due to his lack of geographic knowledge, Michael did not realize until the interview that Brainerd wasn’t a Minneapolis suburb.

An eye for an eye…

He indulges in the art of photography. Specifically, Michael is intrigued by environmental and architectural forms, and doesn’t hesitate in the art of trespassing in order to get a hold of his snapshots.

Muscle relaxers:

Mike loves making maps and floor plans for clients. He is excellent with Flash programming; including animations, interactive movies, and database interactivity. His areas of design specialty are corporate, nonprofit and retail websites, direct email campaigns, environmental signage design, magazine websites, interactive CD-ROMs, and virtual tours.

Notable projects:

  • Designed and drew floor plans for the Marshall Fields interactive kiosk -- his floor plans can now be found in the St. Paul store.
  • Designed and drew new floor plans for The House of Hope Church in St. Paul. He created new signage to go along with the maps, and their website.
  • Worked with Compex to create three websites that shared a common theme and message, while maintaining their own unique and specific designs.
  • Created and developed Flash movies and CD-ROM to introduce prospective independent business owners to Quixtar

Claim to fame

Michael was one of the first people doing web design.

Lifetime sensations

Michael married his object of affection, Missy, in June of 2004. He spends a lavish amount of attention on his Welsh-Corgi, (short for dog), Murray. He is a “rabid” baseball fanatic, especially when pent up in the Metrodome, up-close and personal with the Twins.

Secret ambition

To be a world famous architectural photographer.
