B.A. Public Relations

A Natural Talent

Before arriving at Risdall, Amanda began as an intern for various non-profit and for-profit public relations companies, such as New School Communications, Children’s HeartLink, and Cricket Marketing + PR. She was an active member in student clubs, charity, and service organizations such as Up ‘til Dawn. She has demonstrated an exceptional amount of organization and creativity as former President of the St. Thomas chapter for Public Relations Student Society of America and boasts expertise from crisis management, composing news advisories and press releases, and updating Web sites to media clipping, research, and directing interviews for client monthly magazines.

Part Of The Team

Amanda brings a unique character to RAA with her passion for public relations and special event planning. She once spent a summer requesting for auction items, finding donors, and designing the décor for the largest event of the year for Children’s HeartLink. Her work helped the event surpass the fundraising goal, raising over $500,000. While on the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce team, she devoted much of her time to manage the reputation of the Chamber clients, keeping the New School Communications Web site current and creative, and writing press releases and news advisories.

On A Mission

Amanda has traveled to the fascinating side of life in Tanzania, Africa. She lived in a small village with no running water or electricity. Though not ideal, the accommodations contributed to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, one that taught her to let go and just go with the flow.

When In Doubt, Try, Try Again

Among Amanda’s accomplishments, one of her proudest moments was when she overcame the frustrations of learning to wakeboard.  “I was proud that I didn’t give up, physically or mentally.”

Favorite candy at RAA:

“I will try anything once, but my all time favorite has to be Snickers.”

Time To Call It A Day

Amanda cherishes the wonderful moments of traveling and taking vacations with friends and family. If she can’t be caught relaxing out on the water at the family’s lake home, you can find her watching movies or going to sporting events.
